Home Remedies for Acne – Acne can be one of the most frustrating conditions in life. While it is common in teenagers and those in their 20s due the heightened levels of hormone, it can also appear on infants and adults. However, you might be surprised to find that the treatment for the condition is right in your home. You can mix common ingredients such as oatmeal, cucumber, grapes and yeast to make a facial mask that acts as a home remedy for acne. Some other remedies include:

Grape cleanser

You can make a facial cleanser using the fresh grapes in your fridge. Cut 2 or 3 grapes in half and apply the flesh allover the face and neck. Rinse with some cool water.

Cucumber face mask

Blend a cup of oatmeal with a small cucumber. Mix one teaspoon of the paste with a teaspoon of yogurt and apply on the affected area. Allow it to set for around 30 minutes before rinsing.

Baking soda

Sodium bicarbonate or baking soda acts as a gentle exfoliant for the skin. It helps to unplug the skin pores and remove the dead skin. Baking soda is also good in regulating the skin’s pH balance. It also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. These characteristics make it a good home remedy for acne. Make a paste with a teaspoon or 2 of baking soda and some little water. Leave it to set for a few minutes before rinsing off. It is recommended that you should use baking soda once or twice per week.

Lemon juice

Lemons contain acidic properties that can help to treat acne. Lemons can help to harden the sebum and clean out the dirt that has accumulated in the pores. Use on the skin daily. However, f it becomes too drying, use it after 2 or 3 days. Rub a lemon slice on the face and allow it to set for a few hours. Rinse your face with water.

Your regular toothpaste can be effective in clearing up an acne problem. This is definitely one of the easiest home remedy for acne. Apply white toothpaste on the affected area during bedtime. The toothpaste helps to dry out acne and reduce swelling. There should be significant improvement in one or two days.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is popular in the treatment of acne as it has an antiseptic property and also helps to disinfect the pores. It can also kill the acne-causing bacteria. You should apply a drop of tree tea oil on the affected area 3 times in a day.

Simple honey mask

Ensure that you rinse your face with warm water before applying honey mask. This will help to open up the pores. You can then apply honey on the affected area and leave it for around 30 minutes. Rinse off your face using warm water. To help close the pores, rinse again using cold water.

Yeast and yogurt mask

An oily skin is a good recipe for acne. You can use yeast and yogurt mask to help clear the skin of excess oil. Make a thin mixture using a teaspoon of yeast and some plain yogurt. Apply on the affected area and leave it for between 15 and 20 minutes. First rinse using warm water before rinsing again using cold water to help close the pores.

If these home remedies for acne do not work, it is necessary to consult a dermatologist.
